Inspired by the West Coast Oceans that I’m lucky enough to live nearby. I love being on the beach breathing in the sea air or just being nearby to watch the ocean. Depending on colour choices or a fabric decision, some seascapes are inspired by going deep into the ocean and some are more beach combing inspired.
Each seascape has fabric collage background embellished with free motion embroidery. Torn papers, fabrics, feathers, burnt Tyvek, beaded wire and embroidered lace can all find there way into the collage. The seascapes are embellished with 3D embroidered seashells, corals, jellyfish, sea stars, sea shells, sea slugs and barnacles which are all created from stitched thread, no fabric. There is a never-ending amount of inspiration from the ocean floor so I’m always exploring what anemones or sea slugs I can create from just stitched thread.
